In the heart of his graduate studies, Doug embarked on two transformative summers exploring West Virginia, from its northern crags to its southern glades. Amidst collecting blackberry and raspberry samples, he discovered a passion for mycology, sparked by the abundance of fungi in the wild.
Guided by a knowledgeable friend post-graduation, Doug delved into cultivating edible and medicinal mushrooms. With a simple bag of oyster mushrooms, his journey into mushroom cultivation began. Now, he spends countless hours nurturing a variety of fungi, sharing his harvest, and educating others on the wonders of mycology.
